An eternally curious skill collector, freelancer by day and creative by night. A proud hobby hoarder. Part explorer, part experimenter, always chasing what feels meaningful, even if it doesn’t fit neatly in a box.
I immigrated to the U.S. with a life plan already laid out: study at university, earn the highest degrees, land a well-paying job, and coast. The dream of most West African immigrants. I still remember graduating and feeling... nothing. No excitement. Just the looming reality of what came next—more school. A master’s degree. Another round of delayed freedom. I remember thinking: when does my actual life begin?
So I hit pause on school and entered the workforce instead.
Within six months, I was drowning in depression and anxiety. I felt stuck, and I couldn’t shake the thought: this can’t be all there is. Growing up, I imagined a different kind of life—one that looked more like the inside of an atlas. I devoured encyclopedias, watched Around the World in 80 Days and Indiana Jones on repeat, and fell in love with geography, art, and history. Looking back, it’s no surprise that the life I was meant to live wasn’t in a classroom or an office cubicle—it was out there, somewhere, waiting for me to find it.

After giving the corporate world another shot, I ultimately chose to walk away and forge my own path. Freelancing has allowed me to prioritize travel, adventure, and creative work on my own terms. I’m currently on an open-ended sabbatical, splitting my time between learning Spanish, sailing, writing, photography, a master’s program, and chasing every hobby I never had time for—all in pursuit of a life that feels like mine.
